Dalam berbahasa terkadang terjadi pencampuran fakta ( uraian) dan dugaan ( penafsiran) dan penilaian. Hal ini terjadi di karenakan kekeliruan persepsi.

Misalkan :

  1. Wakil presiden dari calon partai demokrat adalah budiono dia seorang guru besar ekonomi dari UGM, penafsiran (beliau orang yang pintar) dan penilaian (SBY menyukai  budiono).
  2. Apa yang ada di fikiran kita ketika di kantor pegawai tertawa cekikikan sendiri di mejanya sambil melihat layar komputer? Apakah dia sedang bekerja ataukan sedang chatting dengan temannya? Kebanyakan dari kita bisa mengartikan kalau dia sedang chatting? Pertama apa yang di maksud dengan chatting ? Kedua, apakah pekerjaanya memang di depan komputer dan untuk menghilangkan kejenuhan dengan membaca artikel lucu? Kalau ternyata dia tertawa itu di maksudkan untuk mencari penyegaran berarti dia memang  bagian dari kerja tetapi apabila keseharian hanya chatt dan mengabaikan pekerjaan dan hanya tertawa – tawa cekikian berarti bukan bekerja tetapi karena memang malas.

Dalam kehidupan keseharian terkadang kita terjadi mencampurkan  antara fakta dan dugaan. Banyak hal ataupun kejadian yang kita anggap sebagai fakta padahal dugaan yang hanya berdasarkan kemungkinan.Misalkan ” Bos mukanya merah ” Kebanyakan teman – teman saya bilang kalau beliau sedang marah besar dan itu sebagai fakta. Kalau di tanyakan kenapa ko tau kalau bos marah ? Karena ketika saya berikan keterangan kalau ada karyawan yang membolos mukanya merah. Padahal setelah di tanyakan langsung ternyata bos mukanya merah karena habis makan makanan yang pedas.

Komunikasi kita akan lebih efektif apabila kita memisahkan pernyataan  fakta dengan  dugaan. Di sini terlihat bagaimana komunikasi juga mesti memperhatikan hal – hal yang mengandung kebenaran dan kejujuran yang ujungknya komunikasi kita akan efektif  dan lancar.
