Dalam kehidupan sehari – hari kita sebagai manusia selalu berhubungan satu  dengan yang lainnya agar tetap eksis di dunia. Dengan berhubungan tersebut kita menggunakan berbagai bentuk komunikasi baik verbal ataupun non verbal.

Sebagai contoh para politisi yang memenangkan pemilu mereka terlihat wajahnya sumringah dan segar berseri – seri dapat  di artikan kalau mereka bahagia, lain lagi bagi mereka yang kalah menjadi  depresi dan seperti salah satu kader partai GERINDRA di bali yang langsung meninggal terkena serangan jantung tatkala mengetahui pereolehan suaranya jeblok.  Itu semua merupakan simbol atau lambang bahwa dari raut wajah mereka kita bisa mengetahui bagaimana suasana hati dan kondisi mereka.

Dalam keseharian kita menggunkan seragam yang menjadi identitas kita bahwa kita bekerja pada perusahaan pendidikan semisal BINUS, mahasiswa  menggunakan celana jeans dan kaos T-shirt yang bisa di artikan sebagai jiwa muda sporty dan fresh, sebagai pengguna internet memiliki account facebook merupakan trend terkini yang bisa di artikan menjadi tidak ketinggalan jaman. Di sini simbol – simbol dipergunakan dalam kehidupan kita sebagai manusia. Dan salah satu kelebihan manusia dari hewan adalah kemampuan kita menggunakan simbol – simbol tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari – hari

Jadi manusia adalah makhluk yang selalu menggunakan simbol dan simbol  untuk menjaga eksistensinya, dari masa – ke masa siimbol selalu berubah sesuai budaya lingkungan dan daerah dimana simbol itu terdapat.
